Your jewellery is definitely a way to accessorise and express your personal style, but it is also an investment. Therefore it’s important to maintain your beautiful pieces! Here are some tips on cleaning your jewellery at home and when to get a professional clean.
You will need the following :
- Dishwashing liquid like Dawn
- Toothbrush
- Soft microfiber cloths
- A strainer
- Polishing cloths
For your silver and gold pieces, let them sit in a warm water and dish liquid bath for approximately five to ten minutes. Then lightly brush with a dedicated toothbrush.
If your silver is heavily tarnished you may use some baking soda on the brush and gently rub with a microfiber cloth. Place your jewellery, particularly small pieces in a strainer and rinse them off very thoroughly.
Lay out your pieces spaced on a clean microfiber cloth. Buff them dry with another microfiber cloth, then go over with a polishing cloth.
To keep the lustre of your wedding rings and bands, we recommend getting them professionally cleaned every six to twelve months. Your jeweller will also ensure that no stones have come loose or prongs damaged.
Overall it is a good idea to have a maintenance routine for your jewellery and store them properly to ensure they look their best for years to come!
